These are FAQ-like answers I seem to be repeating: Q: Will LFS patch work for 2.2.* kernels ? A: Not mine, however I do see that RedHat's RAWHIDE series contains LFS patches, and they seem to have also matching GLIBC so that also the user-space works. Q: Will LFS patches make it into kernel proper ? A: Slowly they have been going in, I haven't developed things for a while for two reasons: - Recent acute lack of time to tinker Linux Kernel - Most of this stuff is in there already Q: What is missing from 2.4 series ? A: A few side-issues: (at 2.4.0-test8) - pathconf() from VFS layer and filesystems - Several filesystem updates (which need pathconf vector) Q: What about userspace ? A: I don't know, glibc contributions need "massive" paperwork for copyleft reassignment, so I have decided to ignore it. There are people with better knowledge of its internals anyway. RedHat seem to have something in that field in testing for the RAWHIDE series (at least glibc). Q: How to get the LFS extensions into use assuming the libc supports it properly ? A: Read specification part 3.3 at http://www.sas.com/standards/large.file/
